Ukraine: Connecting the Dots Through the Murkiness of the “Free” Press

As the world finds itself in the throws of yet another uprising against governmental corruption, actually getting to the truth of the matter is not as easy as one would think.

As more and more people of the world wake up to the fact that those, who (for whatever reasons) have been given the reigns of governance over them are more inclined to corruption rather than to working for their people’s interests, it is ever so hard to believe that so many still do not recognize the injustice that exists right in front their own eyes.

Again, we find ourselves confronted with stirring images and story lines. But which side of the story are we as observers being told?……or not being told?

If you are relying on the mainstream media for your information, again sadly, you will be both under-informed as well as mis-informed.

We all know, as previously noted, that our media is controlled by a small handful of corporations whose tentacles of control are deeply intertwined with the government and its crony interests.

In a country who proudly boasts to be “the land of the free and home of the brave” We the people are supposed to hold a devoted allegiance to our Constitution. Our Constitution specifically mentions the importance of a free press, who’s duty is both to question and to keep in check those who govern the people. The press is supposed to be the thorn in the side of the government, asking the hard questions that keep them in line and keep their dealings and operations transparent to We the People.

Have the American people have grown complacent?  Are we no longer vigilant in preserving our precious Republic? It seems for the most part, there are many so distracted and entertained that they’ll swallow anything they are fed without question and mindlessly wave their flags whenever prodded.

U.S. Plunges To 46th In World Press Freedom Index… Below Romania

This warrants its own post in the future, but needs mention at this time.

According to a new report from Reporters Without Borders, there was a profound erosion of press freedom in the United States in 2013.

After a year of attacks on whistleblowers and digital journalists and revelations about mass surveillance, the United States plunged 13 spots in the group’s global press freedom rankings to number 46.

Citing the Justice Department’s aggressive prosecution of whistleblowers,(look for a future post) including its secret seizure of Associated Press phone records, the authors write that “freedom of information is too often sacrificed to an overly broad and abusive interpretation of national security needs, marking a disturbing retreat from democratic practices. Investigative journalism often suffers as a result.”

Sorry. I digress again. It’s just that there is so much to get to………

Back to the latest “Foreign Entanglement” for the US.

These “uprisings” do not occur in a vacuum. Once you start to dig beneath the evening news coverage you find that as always it has more to do with the money-interests than any sort of democratic ideals or principles.

Those who hold dear and would adhere to Constitutional principles would argue that the United States should not become entangled in the affairs of another sovereign nation.

Ron Paul: “Ukraine Is Their Business, Not Ours”

“The American people are very leery of getting involved in another squabble in some other country,” warns Ron Paul following the breakdown in the truce in Ukraine and President Obama’s drawing of more red-lines. In this succinct interview with FOX, the former congressman sums it up perfectly, “That’s their business, and it certainly isn’t ours,” he said. “We’ve tried it for too long, and the American people are sick and tired of it, and we’re also out of money.”

“I would be willing to wager most of the people in the Ukraine would like to see the United States stay out, and they’d like to see the Russians stay out.”

Unfortunately, the US is following another playbook and its main objective is to support the US Dollar as the world’s reserve currency at any cost.

Plan A: If a foreign nation has resources that it chooses to trade using a settlement other than US Dollars controlled by a western central bank –then– support the insurgents, overthrow the government, install a puppet regime more compliant to the Western Central Banking model, set up a new central bank, settle trade using the dollar.

Plan B: if a foreign nation is already adhering to western central bank compliance –then– label the insurgents as terrorists, support the sitting puppet government and squash any unrest or rebellion.

Ukraine

The situation in Ukraine is no different than the many others that the US has had a hand in creating a destabilizing influence and playing a major role in determining the outcome.

The history of this current situation is long and tangled but simplified has erupted as a result of East-West tensions. The eastern half of the country has more of an allegiance to Russia while the western half is more European. Like most other nations, Ukraine is finding itself in an economic crisis and needs support. Natural gas pipelines with Russia and into Europe are also vital to the story. Simply put, the Ukraine president turned his back on the European union and decided to go with Russia. Considering that most countries in the EU are in an ever-deepening debt spiral coupled with unbearable and unsustainable austerity measures in place it is not so hard to understand the decision to look the other way.

US Spent $5 Billion to Destabilize Ukraine

Washington Orchestrated Protests Are Destabilizing Ukraine

from Dr. Paul Craig Roberts

The protests in the western Ukraine are organized by the CIA, the US State Department, and by Washington- and EU-financed Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that work in conjunction with the CIA and State Department. The purpose of the protests is to overturn the decision by the independent government of Ukraine not to join the EU.

The US and EU were initially cooperating in the effort to destroy the independence of Ukraine and make it a subservient entity to the EU government in Brussels. For the EU government, the goal is to expand the EU. For Washington the purposes are to make Ukraine available for looting by US banks and corporations and to bring Ukraine into NATO so that Washington can gain more military bases on Russia’s frontier. There are three countries in the world that are in the way of Washington’s hegemony over the world–Russia, China, and Iran. Each of these countries is targeted by Washington for overthrow or for their sovereignty to be degraded by propaganda and US military bases that leave the countries vulnerable to attack, thus coercing them into accepting Washington’s will.

The problem that has arisen between the US and EU with regard to Ukraine is that Europeans have realized that the takeover of Ukraine is a direct threat to Russia, which can cut Europe off from oil and natural gas, and if there is war completely destroy Europe. Consequently, the EU became willing to stop provoking the Ukraine protests.

The response of the neoconservative, Victoria Nuland, appointed Assistant Secretary of State by the duplicitous Obama, was “fuck the EU,” as she proceeded to describe the members of the Ukraine government that Washington tended to impose on a people so unaware as to believe that they are achieving independence by rushing into Washington’s arms. I once thought that no population could be as unaware as the US population. But I was wrong. Western Ukrainians are more unaware than Americans.

The orchestration of the “crisis” in Ukraine is easy. The neoconservative Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland told the National Press Club in Washington on December 13, 2013, that the US has “invested” $5 billion in agitation in Ukraine.http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article37599.htm The crisis essentially resides in western Ukraine where romantic ideas about Russian oppression are strong and the population is less Russian than in the eastern Ukraine.

The hatred of Russia in western Ukraine is so dysfunctional that the duped protesters are unaware that joining the EU means the end of Ukraine independence and rule by the EU bureaucrats in Brussels, the European Central Bank, and US corporations. Perhaps Ukraine is two countries. The western half could be given to the EU and US corporations, and the eastern half could be reincorporated as part of Russia, where the entire Ukraine resided for as long as the US has existed.

The disaffection from Russia that exists in western Ukraine makes it easy for the EU and US to cause trouble. Those in Washington and Europe who wish to destroy Ukraine’s independence portray an independent Ukraine as a hostage of Russia, while a Ukraine in the EU is allegedly under the protection of the US and Europe. The large sums of money that Washington funnels into NGOs in Ukraine propagate this idea and work the population into a mindless frenzy. I have never in my life witnessed people as mindless as the Ukrainian protesters who are destroying the independence of their country.

The US- and EU-financed NGOs are fifth columns designed to destroy the independence of the countries in which they operate. Some pretend to be “human rights organizations.” Others indoctrinate people under cover of “education programs” and “building democracy.” Others, especially those run by the CIA, specialize in provocations such as “Pussy Riot.” Few if any of these NGOs are legitimate. But they are arrogant. The head of one of the NGOs announced prior to the Iranian elections in which Mousavi was Washington’s and the CIA’s candidate that the election would result in a Green Revolution. He knew this in advance, because he had helped to finance it with US taxpayer dollars. I wrote about it at the time. It can be found on my website, www.paulcraigroberts.org and in my just published book, How America Was Lost.

The Ukrainian “protesters” have been violent, but the police have been restrained. Washington has a vested interest in keeping the protests going in the hopes of turning the protests into revolt so that Washington can grab Ukraine. This week the US House of Representatives passed a resolution threatening sanctions should the violent protests be put down by the police.

In other words, if the Ukrainian police behave toward violent protesters in the way that US police behave toward peaceful protesters, it is reason for Washington to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine. Washington is using the protests to destroy the independence of Ukraine and has ready the list of puppets that Washington intends to install as Ukraine’s next government.

US and EU Are Paying Ukrainian Rioters and Protesters

from Dr. Paul Craig Roberts

A number of confirmations have come in from readers that Washington is fueling the violent protests in Ukraine with our taxpayer dollars. Washington has no money for food stamps or to prevent home foreclosures, but it has plenty of money with which to subvert Ukraine.

From the responses I received to my request for confirmations of the information sent to me from Moldova, there is enough evidence that Washington fomented the violent riots for western newspapers and TV channels to investigate. But they haven’t. As we know, the presstitutes are enablers of Washington’s crimes and duplicities. However, the US media has reported that the Ukrainian government is paying Ukrainians to rally in favor of the government.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2014/02/16/ukraine-government-protests/5435315/ The Ukrainian government will have a hard time matching Washington’s $5 billion.

I have no objection to Ukrainians protesting government corruption. Indeed, such gullible people could benefit from the lesson they would learn once their country is in the hands of corrupt Brussels and Washington. What I object to is the lack of awareness on the part of the protesters that by permitting themselves to be manipulated by Washington, they are pushing the world toward a dangerous war. I would be surprised if Russia is content to have US military and missile bases in Ukraine.

Dozens Killed In Ukraine’s (Not Quite) Civil War, White House Outraged Again

The Ukrainian health minister just state that at least 64 have died since February 18th; protesters claim the number is over 100 – either way, this is horrific.

Ukraine is the pawn on the chessboard. The propaganda war is East v West.

  • WHITE HOUSE URGES UKRAINE PRESIDENT TO IMMEDIATELY WITHDRAW SECURITY FORCES FROM DOWNTOWN KIEV, RESOLVE CRISIS BY POLITICAL MEANS
  • WHITE HOUSE SAYS OUTRAGED BY IMAGES OF UKRAINIAN SECURITY FORCES “FIRING AUTOMATIC WEAPONS ON THEIR OWN PEOPLE” (more YouTube justifications)

And Russia proclaims US/EU calls for sanctions as “Blackmail”

BOTH the USA and EU will now fund the rebels as Russia will fund Yanukovych. At the political level, Ukraine is the pawn on the chessboard. The propaganda war is East v West. However, those power plays are masking the core issue that began with the Orange Revolution – corruption.

The “Ukraine Situation” Explained In One Map

Sadly, everything you need to know about the crisis in Ukraine in one worrisome map which summarizes all the relevant “red lines.”

Given this – is there any doubt this will not end with peaceful resolution.

As Martin Armstrong warned:

BOTH the USA and EU will now fund the rebels as Russia will fund Yanukovych. At the political level,Ukraine is the pawn on the chessboard. The propaganda war is East v West. However, those power plays are masking the core issue that began with the Orange Revolution – corruption. Yanukovych is a dictator who will NEVER leave office. It is simple as that. There will be no REAL elections again in Ukraine. This is starting to spiral down into a confrontation that the entire world cannot ignore.

Ukraine President Flees Kiev After “Coup D’Etat” As Protesters Storm Presidential Palace, Plunder Gold; Army On Hold

Bottom line, the situation is fluid, and is increasingly bordering on an all too real threat of civil war between the country’s linguistically and affiliation-divided west and east.
